Charlotte ; she was super happy to go outside over the weekend
This is a doe I rescued in November 2009 ; she was abandoned by her owners at a pet supply store while pregnant & had a litter of three a few weeks later, all have since been placed in a new home as a bonded trio ; Charlotte will never again have to endure the fear of being abandoned or the burden of being a mother
I am really thankful I still have Charlotte & I hope I have many more years with her Charbear is doing surprizingly very well, much better than I expected, getting along just fine despite Wilbur's passing I have been able to bond more closely with her over the last few weeks now that she needs the extra attention
Rabbits are not for Easter, they are a 10+ year commitment & require very specialized proper care in order to live a long, happy & healthy life
"Each year, unwanted, former Easter rabbits fill local rabbit rescues and humane societies. The goal of the "Make Mine Chocolate!" campaign is to break the cycle of acquisition and relinquishment by educating the public about the responsibilities involved in keeping a companion rabbit before a rabbit is brought home.
Rabbits are a familiar symbol of the Easter holiday. In the days leading up to it, they appear on television commercials and packages of candy, and stores are filled with stuffed rabbits. It is no surprise that children beg their parents for a bunny of their own. Ill-prepared to care for these unique creatures, their "owners" often quickly tire of them. In the months following Easter, local humane societies and rabbit rescues are flooded with rabbits, former Easter gifts whose "owners" no longer want them. The unlucky ones are dumped outside where predators, cars, illness, and injury virtually guarantee an early death." @ makeminechocolate.org
