A fat pet is not a healthy pet; this is not an opinion, but a fact, and not is this just a fact, it is common sense.
As humans, it is our responsibility to provide our pets with not only food/water, shelter & love, but essential nutrition accommodated with physical exercise (also training & mental stimulation); and failure to do so knowingly is pure negligence. Do not get an animal if you are only going to deny it proper and necessary care. If your pet is obese, you need to do something about it should this be due to overfeeding and negligence and not due to an underlying medical condition such as hypothryroidism or diabetes.
For humans, we can choose whether to do something about our obesity, or choose to continue making the same lifestyle choices; for pets, they rely on their owners to make that decision for them.
Pet obesity is a serious problem, more often effecting cats and dogs, resulting in major health risks such as: • Osteoarthritis • Insulin Resistance and Type 2 Diabetes • High Blood Pressure • Heart and Respiratory Disease • Cranial Cruciate Ligament Injury • Kidney Disease • Many Forms of Cancer • Decreased life expectancy (up to 2.5 years)
