Description
This photograph, taken at a dog event today in NE OH, which is of a retired racing Greyhound named "Ozark Sky Way" or "Sky" for short and he was adopted through Erie Shores Greyhound Adoption of Ohio, and this boy has already been adopted by a wonderful family.
About the Event:
This was apart of an annual canine event, where various rescue organizations from all across the state come together in effort to raise money for their organizations and seek out homes for their adoptable pets. Pet owners are welcomed & encouraged to bring their own canine companions to participate in multiple contests, raffle drawings, to check out the many different vendors, to march in the "pooch parade" at the end of the day, and really just to enjoy the outdoors & socialize with other pet owners and their dogs.
This year because I have my Whippet Pokey and because my two mentors are members of the county kennel club and will be sponsoring my membership, I decided to volunteer at the club's Meet the Breed booth for a few hours to educate those interested in the Whippet breed, and along with my friend, who I worked with at a private animal shelter several years back, and along with her was her new Borzoi "Stefan" that she adopted from a national Borzoi rescue organization and brought to also teach the public about the Borzoi - in the case of Stefan, my friend is considered a "foster failure" because she initially applied to foster the lovely Borzoi but instantly she knew he was a keeper; poor Stefan was rescued by the organization National Borzoi Rescue Foundation after he had been severely beaten with a baseball bat, suffered broken ribs and other bones, and endured a severe, painful bacterial infection of the skin, and despite all the abuse, Stefan still retains a friendly, loving, sociable and outgoing personality, as if he had been in a loving home all his life... now, adopted by my friend, he will be promised that loving home that he was denied before he being rescued.

Ahh, so glad Pokey had fun! He's turning out to be such a good companion for you - I'm so happy! Ugh, dude, Greyhounds are fabulous. And this fella is stunning - the B&W is a perfect! Hopefully one day I can adopt a retired racing Greyhound - they need as much of a chance at finding a loving home, like every animal in need.
